Our top picks to celebrate all things vegetarian and vegan

Throughout May we are celebrating all things vegetables at Birtelli’s! Our new guest pizza celebrates the British asparagus season, with the forthcoming National Vegetarian Week and British Tomato Fortnight, all encouraging us to put a spotlight on delicious vegetable centred meals. And what better way to enjoy your favourite and often seasonal vegetables than on a pizza?

Nutritious and delicious!

Besides the obvious health and nutritional benefits found from consuming more vegetables, pizza rich in flavoursome vegetarian ingredients encompasses a variety of textures and flavours that complement one another all in one mouthful. Yummy!!

From sweet roasted capsicums to earthy wild mushrooms and fresh seasonal greens, our myriad of vegetarian crafted pizzas and salads are all taking centre stage this month.

Many of our fresh salads use Heritage tomatoes sourced from The Tomato Stall in the Isle of Wight. With more hours of sunshine than anywhere else in the UK, plus the rich and fertile Arreton soil, the Isle of Wight is the perfect growing ground for great tasting tomatoes. Combining the green-fingered expertise of their head growers and mindful growing practices they are able to produce an array of beautiful, colourful tomatoes. Add a spring to your step this May with our healthy selection of 8 fresh salads to compliment your pizza.

So, whether it’s during National Vegetarian Week, or anytime, these dedicated food calendar events remind us of the need for a balanced diet and a shift to a more sustainable way of enjoying the foods you love!
